How to calculate slab rebar quantity.

Today we are going to talk about how to measure the rebar of the reinforcement slab. It is very important for quantity surveyors. Before we talk about steel bar, you should know what reinforcements are.
Concrete has no tensile strength. We therefore use steel bars for tensile strength for concrete.

When we take a small example of this. If you have a slab that is 5 meters long and 3 meters wide,
Steel bar for short span of 3 m is known as main bar and large span is distribution bar. What is the bottom bar and the top bar?. Leave a comment below in the comments section for what it is.

Every quantity surveyor should have a good knowledge of construction technology.
All right. Let's see how many bars are needed for the main bar. The main bar length is 3 m. IIt is spread for a gap of 5 meters. Then you need to know about the bar space. The center distance from the center of the bar is 150mm and the bar type and size is T10 bars. Then you can divide the length by 150mm to find the number of gaps, add 1 to find number of bars.

5/0.15 = 33.33+1=34 nr

We need 34 numbers as main bars.
The total length of the main bar =34/3 = 102m

Then find the length of the distribution bar.

3/0.15 = 20+1=21nr

Total length of the distribution bar =21/5 = 105m

Total length of the bar = 102+105= 207m

Now you know the 10mm dia. The bar weight is 0.62 kg / m.

0.62 kg/m x 207 m =  128.34 kg.
